Watch: Richie Aprile: The Jacket, the Beansie Hit, and Janice
Mobsters DailyRichie Aprile came home from prison with a Manson stare, a legendary leather jacket, and a total inability to accept that the family had moved on without him. Watch the video above, then read the story of the show's first great antagonist.
David Proval plays Richie as old-school menace in a world that has quietly changed the locks: he cripples Beansie over an old debt, builds a cocaine sideline against Tony's rules, and courts Janice in a romance made entirely of mutual damage. The jacket, which Richie gives Tony as a sacred tribute and Tony instantly gives away, is the whole conflict in one garment. His end is the show's most famous subversion: the season's big villain, shot not by Tony but by Janice, over a domestic argument about his daughter, mid-sentence.
Quick answer: Richie couldn't accept Tony's authority or the new rules, and Janice shot him during a fight before Tony ever got the chance.
